Looking for a new EDC knife and need help picking one out.
overall im looking for a good sized knife
around 3.5in in blade length
around $150
reletivly light weight 3-5 oz
and something thin for pocket carry
steel isnt overly important to me
brand doesnt matter just quality
any suggestions?

Yeah I'd say PM2, or maybe a Bradley Alias I if you can find one used for $150. I thought they wouldn't be very good since I own a Sebenza and I didn't think the Bradley would be even close. It's not the same but I realized (after getting one recently) that it's an outstanding knife in it's own right. The PM2 is just classic for a more tactical and great slicing EDC. Neither are hard use, of course, although the Bradley might be a little more "utility" style. Get any ZT you can afford if you want something to beat on a little harder. Oh, and a Spyderco Manix would also rule.

ZT 0550

The $150 part might be a problem. $200 is more likely.

It also weighs 5.8 oz, IIRC. It's heavy and not thin, but is good for heavy-duty.

I would reco a PM2 (my favorite) or a 3.5" Spydie Caly 3.5 with ZDP blade-steel.

There's a reason that 6 out of the first 7 posters are recommending the PM2. It's that good.

The PM2 would be a good choice. A ZT350 or a BM 520 are both within your specs, and so is a Spyderco Gayle Bradley, I believe. The ZT and the Gayle Bradley will probably be the more rugged of the knives listed, although the 520 is a very solid performer. The PM2 and the Bradley will probably be better slicers. The ZT will do just about anything you want to do, but it is a bit wider than the others and it has a slight recurve to the blade, if that matters.

Though the Paramilitary 2 is probably a bit more capable/versatile, if portability and pocketability is important you may want to consider the Benchmade 940 (or possibly the 943). It sports a 3.4" blade but is extremely thin and light, and meets your other criteria. I find the PM2 just a little bit big for in-pocket carry -- (though I am a small guy). They're both great knives, just different.

Para 2, no question about it. Since your limit's around $150, you could get one of the sprints!

thanks for all the input i think im going to give a manix a go i had a PM2 and i loved it but gave it to my friend when he got deployed and want to try something different

Ontario RAT-3
Blade Length: 3.25in.
AOL: aprox. 6in.
Great sheath
Tough
Price: aprox. $80

I know this knife is a fixed blade, but it is small enough that it fits inside a pocket of cargo pants. It is also very light weight.

Steel: 1095 Carbon Steel

If all else fails, the Spyderco Sage Carbon Fiber Plain Edge is also great!
