Hey guys,
I got this knife in a trade yesterday and all I can say is wow! This is MY first Emerson. I got my girlfriend a CQC-14 and i wasn't really to fond of it. She liked it but she wants something with a bit more reach. But anyways the Snubby left a bad taste in my mouth (it was waveless). They're lack of fit and finish really didn't appeal to me but I've seen a lot of modded ones and focused my attention to them. So lately, Emerson's have been on my mind day and night (especially the Gentleman Jim and Gypsy Jack). So I saw on one the forums for trade and I had to have it!
Now the trader did say the handles were in horrible condition and I see what he meant (didn't bother me). It looked like someone spray painted the knife with some khaki color and then tried sanding it out but never really finished. I fixed that. While the handles did feel nice, I made them feel even better. The blade and everything was perfect! The wave is more awesome that I thought it would be! I cant imagine why anyone would want to remove it. I do plan on modding this even more in the future. Some Grey G10 and a Ti bolster would be sweet, and possibly make the knife even more smoother (need to re polish liner) to open because now it just hurts!
! But anyways here she is!
Here's how I received it (scales)
Then I started started sanding and started to polish up
Just a little bit more...
And Voila!!
Now its smoother than before and I think it looks great! I didn't mind the coarseness of the G-10 but its how it came to so I cleaned out the marks.
Oh and if anyone can tell me how to fix slightly bent clip, I'll really appreciate it!! I fear that it'll slip out one day. Don't want that now do we?
I also polished the liners (No pics sorry) and now its easy to flick with both the my humb and middle finger. Still needs a good amount of force to open. Need to fix that!
Well that's it for now! Thanks for reading!
