New Emerson?

I'll put this out to the forum and lend to your expertise.

My first Emerson was the original Emerson/Benchmade collaboration, yes I'm that old. Picked up a Super Karambit last week for EDC/SD.

Here's what I'm looking for: I'm a retired Leo and a scoutmaster. SD is always going to be a concern, as long as I live, and they can't keep the guys I've arrested in prison. My birthday is in April and want your best recommendation for a waved "jack of all trades" knife. Current job is white collar-so knife is my only option for SD. Which Emerson would you recommend?

BTW: I'm a big guy, undercover I used to easily conceal a full size 45(6'4" and a lean 250 lbs). So size of the recommendation is not an issue.
Thanks in advance.

There are a few that might work, (eg; Super Commander, CQC8, CQC13, CQC15). Not sure if the forum has strong preferences to any model. For example: Spyderco forum would recommend a manix, manix2, or Military. BM would probably recommend the 610, 615, 585, 930, or 940. Based on the criteria, I was looking for a highly recommended model.

Almost if Emerson had to go to the SERE school, what folding model would he take? Granted fixed blade would likely be the primary choice. However, I can't carry a fixed blade at work.

Let me look at the CQC10. Whatever the forum recommends, I'll get. I can't go too wrong-it's an emerson

To me EDC means a knife should be usable for mundane chores as well as excel in SD.

IMHO the primary design of an SD knife should be to both penetrate and slash. For that reason, if you insist on the wave feature (which I do love) I would recommend the CQC13 Bowie or (perhaps surprisingly) the CQC16 Folding Hunter. The mere profile of either of these knives bespeak their intended purpose.
They are meant to meet meat!

That said...

I must suggest ("must" 'cause Haze would if I didn't!) that you consider the Emerson PERSIAN.

It is a beautiful sinister blade with obvious SD cred.

But it is also surprisingly utilitarian.
That needle sharp point can reach into narrow tight spaces no other full sized blade can touch. And that lovely sweeping edge slices so well that I often use it in the kitchen just for the enjoyment.

The ergonomic handle is also superb and works well in nearly any grip. My hands are average sized and so I have a little "wiggle room" so I can adjust grip as the mood and situation dictate. For larger hands the open-ended semi-pistol grip means that there is nothing to constrain or cramp one's fingers.

I find it almost ironic that you recently obtained a Super Karambit with EDC and SD in mind.
I feel the Persian is the YING to the Karambit's YANG. Both knives are "as advertised", their purpose and potential undisguised. The Persian is a more convenient and versatile EDC, and more than the Karambits's equal for SD.

Good luck. Let us know what you get. Send pics. Can't get enough.

Thanks for the recommendation. The Persian is a wicked blade. I will have the chance to hold some of these (Blade HQ is down the road). I'll take the list down on Tuesday. I feel there is much to be said for holding the knife. However, YOU have field experience with these models and can more accurately prescribe the best model. Thank you for taking time.
