It's my first Esee knife and I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I'm used to paying a lot more for a quality knife, like Busse, etc... so when I got this, based on reputation alone, I thought it was rather--unassuming. I'm used to a heavier knife and this one is definitely not that and rides well on my hip when I'm on the 4wheeler and I really like the molle sheath and pouch I bought with it.

Question, mine came with a sharpened upper swedge, what's the benefit of that if any?

Firstly, these are incredibly high quality blades. You obviously bought the clip point variant. This is more of the tactical and fighting blade when it has a clip point. If you want a dedicated bush knife, get a non-clip point variant (the clip point eats batons which is obviously the only way you can do any wood processing tasks with such a light blade). For now, strap that bad boy on to your chest rig or home defense rig.
Great purchase, anyway.

Did you order the sharpened swedge model by accident? Great knife just more of a fighter than a wilderness knife. These knives are designed to be pure efficiency in simplicity. Nothing you don't need and everything you do in a working knife. Only after extensive use do you realize you will not need anything more or want anything less. The 6 is perfect. Welcome to the club.

If you prefer the one without the sharpen wedge, we can trade. I have a brand new Esee6 as well. :)

I pair this with my KZ2 and it's a perfect match.

Cheers

In all honesty, I don't think I read that far in the description when I hit the "add to cart" button :)

I can put this one on my first line belt and buy another "6" without the swedge and get one of those pack kits (when they become available) for my hunting gear.

I have the clip point also but I'm planning on getting it a mate, either another 6 w/o the swedge or a Junglas if I can find one when I have the fundage... I do love my 6 with the clip point though... One hell of a tactical knife...

Man it happens they have so many models now. Even so, that knife would be my all time favorite tactical fighting knife and will own one eventuallly and every variation of the 6, best knife in the line up. Great choice!

Man that is THE knife that i want to get :jerkit: just saving up my pennies for it right now :)

So after some toying with it, Luopo, how's it size up next to your Bussekin?
If this came out of the Busse shop, for instance, would you be satisfied with the blade?

It's pretty anorexic compared to a Busse :)

But I like it, it's lighter and faster than anything I have right now (which is all 1/4" thick blades) and will go well on my 1st line gear.

I did buy an Izula II because of some Punisher scales I bought, so I think I'll use that one more when I go hunting(using the micarta scales)--and I don't baton much, I use my Gransfor Bruk Hunters Axe for chopping.

What sheath did you get for it?
I would like to upgrade the sheath on my 6.

Edit: Nevermind I found it. Sheesh!
I've been sitting here staring at this plastic sheath, wondering WTH I was going to do with it ever since I got the knife.
Now I know...

Here's what I did with mine, not unlike many others... it's a nice sheath and survival kit system.
