New ESEE owner

....ok well not yet. It's hasn't been shipped but I am in the process of getting an RC3.
It is my first ESEE fixed blade though I do have the RAT1 folder.

I use this knife as my work EDC. I wanted something stong, sharp and BIG in a small(ish) package.
I have literally beat the crap out of this!
I work (currently) as a land scapper (though we do LOTS of other stuff) and use this for cutting/chopping roots (dirt and all) as well as cutting up landscape fabric, geo grid and the hard plastic edging.
It is a great blade and I researched the crap out of it before pulling the trigger. In my research I didn't find ONE bad word about it so I bought one. I have NOT been disappointed and I'm sure I won't be dissapointed with the RC3.
I wanted to ask all of you out there what your favorite ESEE blade is and why.
 
Congrats, great knife. I was torn between the ESEE-3 and the HEST. I chose the HEST, which is my first ESEE knife, and likely not my last.
 
My 5 was my first ESEE, and I really dig the knife, but it has a specific purpose and is not a candidate for EDC. It's a hoss, and I'm nuts about this knife.

My Izula is my EDC knife, and I can't say enough positive things about this blade. It's just great. Not perfect for everything, but a great knife. I pop it in my pocket and never notice it's there, but always know that it is there, if you follow my meaning.

My HEST is a knife I bought because I felt compelled to. I really like the design, and the knife fits like a glove. I am trying to wrangle a way to carry it as my EDC, but it just isn't as low profile as the Izzy. When they come out with a HEST folder, all that may change, of course.

Favorite? All of them... I can't pick one over the other. That said, if I could only have one of the lot, I would probably go with the HEST - it can do more than the Izula and is just a smaller, yet beefy, version of the 5 (but has a little more attitude).
 
I also EDC my RAT1 Folder. I can't wait for the Izula folder to come out. My first ESEE knive was the ESEE-4. I also have the Izula. I can't decide between the two, because they both serve different purposes. I love them both equally!!!
 
my favorite so far is the izula, because i get to use it the most. it's the most sheeple friendly of the lineup, at least 'til one of the folders come out. love my 3's, 6, and lite machete, though.
 
let me help you with the pic...your future rc-3 :D it's all packaged up, just waiting for the check to get here.

as far as my favorite knife (not just esee), hands down the junglas. i don't collect knives so as soon as i opened the box and had my hands around it i knew it was time to go for my other knives. it can do everything from hack down trees and baton through the toughest iron wood i've found and still maneuverable and nimble enough to act as a scaled down machete. if there is a do-it-all-knife, for me it's the junglas.

a close second is the esee-4. it's my edc knife along with the spyderco military. the military stays in my pocket while the esee-4 stays in my edc pack. the blade length and the thickness just clicks with my hand.

i'd be very hard-pressed to pick one over the other but i guess it's like the gun world - you use a handgun to fight your way to a rifle...the junglas is the rifle.

Only 6 of you have favorite ESEE's! I find that hard to believe. :confused:
My fav is the RC3!!! Favorite fixed blade that is.
Even though I haven't held it yet. :o
 
My favorite, by default as it is my only ESEE at this point, is my HEST. I spent a good while deciding between the RC-3 and the HEST. I went with the HEST because I think it offers more functionality in a similar size package. I'm glad I went the way I did. I love this knife.

It absolutely will not be my last ESEE knife though. No doubt that I'll end up with entire line. The one I'm looking most forward to (when it comes out) is the HEST folder. I imagine it'll end up near the top of the "favorites" list. :)

are you guys serious?? there's going to be an Izula folder??

My Izula is one of my favorite knives, at first I wasn't to impressed with it just cutting paper other stuff it was great, so I increased the relief cut and profiled it a bit.. wahla.. this sucker can cut wood like mad and still slice through paper without a touch up..

there will be both an izula and a HEST folder. slated to be out around the same time late 2010.
 
Sweet, put me down for an Izula folder I'm already getting another Izula in Desert Tan as a back up..

I'm not familiar with the hest.
