Just got it in the mail, along with the handle set. The logo's are etched into this one, not stamped. The sheath is kind of interesting...It's got this little "Hodad" bolted onto it that swivels, and helps retain the blade, I guess. Never seen this thing before. I guess rather than designing a new sheath, Ka-Bar will just add little things to it...oh well. Otherwise it's a cool "Not so little" blade. I really like the size of it!

Congrats it is a great knife. Very comfortable and handy for many tasks. Use it well.

Congrats on the new balde. we like pics around here Dave. It is my favourite along side the 16. your really going to appreciate that blade, very handy.

This is my 4th Becker now. I really like them. Not too "Nice", real workhorses that feel great in the hand.

It's a fine knife. The doodad you are referring to is there to securely lock the knife into the sheath. For quite some time people took issue with the glass reinforced nylon sheaths "dulling" their knives, so Ka-Bar fixed it and switched the sheath to a non-glass reinforced sheath. Sadly, however, it loses structural stiffness and now requires something else to help keep the knife in place. Hence the doodad. But it will very much secure the knife into the sheath without any doubt, and can be modified to be lower profile if one would like.

Did a little "Experiment" just now with this sheath. Put a razor sharp edge on the 14, blackened out the edge with a Sharpie, and ran it in and out of this sheath many times. The edge makes ZERO contact with the sheath. I ran it in a few times putting pressure on the blade side as I inserted it, again, ZERO contact. It does rub the top of the grind where the edge is started....(Where the coating meets the bare steel), but no contact below this. Maybe I got lucky with this sheath, maybe Ka-Bar addressed this situation....I don't know...?

They certainly have Dave. You shouldnt have any issues with edge retention from drawing/inserting your blade.

Great little knife and mine has got quite a workout this summer.

Mine has the glass reinforced sheath but I haven't noticed any dulling but when inserting the knife I always try to insert it with the flat of the back edge pressing into the sheath, same when withdrawing it.

I've got to find some stainless hardware for the handles as they are rusting quickly due to sweat.

this obsession with razor sharp knives :D

heh

it's a good little sheath

just treat factory sheaths as shipping/storage containers.

need better? there are options.
