New Eskabar

The izula (not izula 2) micarta handles will fit it with some shaving of the inserts. Also strip and patina it

I stripped mine and did a food patina it feels great. Left the coating on the handle going to get scales soon I think. Welcome to the forum!

Use it.

Using it will immediately make it better.

Congrats on the 14.

Yes, this! Use it for what you use your knives for. If you like it, you're set. If there's something you don't like, mod it (handle, finish, sheath).

Strip. Patina. Wrap. Sharpen.
Or as in my case
Order another BK14. Strip. Patina. Wrap. Sharpen.

I wanted a coated one and one with a patina--

Make a fire drill set to break it in... then strip it and do a cord wrap. (Then post pics of where you cut yourself doing the cord wrap.) Then square the back spine for a fire steel and jimp it.

Think about getting micarta, don't do it. Look at some custom G10 scales, redo your cord wrap. Look at micarta again. Use the knife, forget about modding it more... live happily ever after.

Alternatively, you can post about the sheath knocking the factory edge down a little. (Or you can use the knife for a week or two, let the knife and sheath wear in together, sharpen the knife and live happily ever after.)

Oh, also buy a BK11.

Use it!!!

Do everything else cause, but using it will make it better.
