I had an Eskabar or two, and ended up giving them away to friends in the Navy. So, it was time to replace them. Seeing as I can't leave anything factory, I had to do some stuff to them. First, I gave them a wicked convex edge. (Photos aren't loading this second.)
Then, I stripped one, except for the portion that will be covered by the scales.
Then, I got some of those fancy Grivory handle scales.
Then, I dug out my old TDI belt straps and sure enough, they fit the Eskabar sheath...
Then, I ordered another set and tried to fit them to an Izula. The inside of the Izula's handle is a little different, and I needed to do some filing. Then, I found that the Izula won't snap back into its sheath with the handles installed. I didn't want to mess with the sheath, so I just removed about 3/16" off the top portion of the handle scales...
Eskabar and Izula...
Here, you can see the amount of Grivory I had to remove...
If you put these on an Izula, you'll have to use some sort of spacer inside the handles to prevent the screw from overtightening and going through the entire handle slab.
With some necker friends...
