Hello

The Esse was one of my first models and I always liked its design. Now I decided to update my Gen II models and started with it.
The blade is ground on the style I call full flat chisel (and that´s just what it is, a full flat on one side, sharpened on one side only, too), made of 5160 steel, selectivelly heat treated, satin finished and mildly etched to enhance the nice temper line (that you can´t see on this crappy scanned image).
The handle is reddish swamp wood, cord wrapped and soon will be resin soaked - too tired to do it today.
Even thought it was made from 3/16" thick stock, it is distal tapered both on the blade and handle lenght, what makes it very, very light (under 3 ounces) and fast in the hand. I also played with the nalde slabs and they are thicker towards the butt. The back of the blade is slightly rounded for thumb comfort (I got this tip from Ed Fowler - Thanks!).
Overall lenght is 8 3/4" and blade lenght, 4 3/4".
Let me know what you think.
