Last weekend we bought a watchdog for the new house.

Just now we will have a look for the dog more than the pet watches for the house. But it will grew.

It is a Rhodesian Ritchback.

We don't have a name for the Dog jet.
Do you have an idea?

Thank you.

What a handsome dog (I mean a mail doggy).:)
The name for watchdog must be short , strong and loud.
The name should contain sonorous vowels and consonants, as for example in German language: Aсhtung , Vorwärts, Ordnung.....

Why would not you call it Rammstein?

Put in your vote on the Age Old Debate in the Community Forums! And post more pictures there! So far dogs are SMOKIN' the cats.

This shoulda been moved to Buck forum as off topic.

Yes, Fritz, Duke will be a nice name.

Is there a Mod who can do me the favor to move the thread into
the Buck forum as off topic? I started the thread there because I
wanted to ask the Buckaroos

Garyale, Rammstein - thats a god name. When you see the dog and hear the
name everybody will smile at once.

The Breeder called him Dingane that is somebody who searches.

Congrats! I met a guy once who had a Rhodesian Ridgeback, his dog was pretty big!

I heard that theyre renowned for their braveness, a reputation they got when they were used to hunt lions in Africa. How about calling him Kaiser?

Heres some dog names for ya :) Very nice looking dog you got there. I have a Doberman Husky German Shepard mix. Hes a very dependable dog.

Names: Malouk, Ace, Agro, Czar, Echo, Major. Those are just a few.

Love your dog like no other!

I once surprised a group of dog-walkers here by correctly identifying one's Rhodesian Ridgeback. Hehe....We watch the big dog shows....
Great dogs.

He's a beauty. I don't know if there is a better looking dog than a RR. How much do I like the breed? I named one of my companies after it.

I lost my ridgeback last year to an awful disease called degenerative myelepathy (don't panic, its more prevelant in other breeds). Poor Zoe was only 7. What a princess she was; she had a great personality and loved nothing better than laying on the couch with me! Basically, she was either full on or full stop.

She was a counter crawler though, and stubborn. She did require a consistent hand in training and was much more challenging than my German Shepard.

Congratulations on your new beauty!

Thank you, Messieurs for the kind komments.

Yes, it seems to become a big dog. The breeder says that it will have roundabout 100 pounds when it is full grown. The RRs are powerful runners and very intelligent with their hunting strategy when hunt in a pack.

The Dog is 10 weeks old and learns very fast. But as you wrote, Shann, it needs a consistent hand in training. It will get a hunting training. We have a dog school here and I think it is necessary for a dog like the RR. We want to have a dog that is walking beside our paint horse without a cord. Our last dog did it without problems and we hope that we can do it with the RR too

It is said, that the RR is a family dog who defends his herd without compromize. And it is not a barker. The RR uses his voice only when the needs arises. The RR I saw before were friendly dogs and not aggressive.

Will show some more pictures if you like.

Shann, it is sad to lose his dog just with such a desease like degenerative myleopathy. It seems to be exceptional at the RR. But that's no comfort. I hope you find another princess like Zoe was.

Now I've to feed my own breed and the dog. Post more later.

Haebbie

Two more pictures.

The discussion about the name goes on.

Thanks for looking.

What about naming him after a knife?

Maybe the Izula or Zula might be better.

What about Becker?

Just a thought.

Short, clear, single or double sylable name. Maybe a strong african name?
He is a georgous Pup! WD

Murenga which translates into "good hunting dog" from Shona which is the language in Zimbabwe where the Rhodesian Ridgeback is from.

Cute dog!!!

Rhodies are great. I took care of one named Terra for a year while her owners were abroad. She was as kind and gentle of a dog as you could ask for. So sweet.

Congrats on your new doggie! Petey my farting pitbull says hi too.

He looks like a Ralph to me. Or Reno, as in Janet Reno, big, mean, and husky!
