I am so pumped about this.
I have done quite a bit of canoeing and canoe tripping in the past. Like anyone into it, I have had various boats over the years. Since having kids, my only canoe is a fishing one (Radisson).
However, since I am all done having kids
I wanted to get back into the canoe tripping. We have taking my fishing canoe out a bit, but it is not the same.
I have been watching canoes for a while and decided that I would go with a Royalex boat. I would love to have a kevlar, or other high tech materials to make it light weight. But, I know we will beating up these boats (one more will be purchased before spring), and the kids will be learning in them. So, I cringed at the thought of beating up such expensive boats.
After looking at various ones, I decided that the Bell Alaskan was one of the top on my list. I was calling around and I found a dealer that had a "demo" one. Meaning that it had been down the river about twice, and was hundreds less!!!
Couldn't pass that up.
Here is the Alaskan.
No pictures of my own yet, but maybe soon.
My oldest son and middle daughter demo rode the canoe to make sure we liked it. We bought and my son and I took it out yesterday for an easy 4 mile cruise. The canoe was awesome, and I can't wait to get it out on a trip.
No real point to my post, other than I got this new toy, and was super excited about it. Wanted to share.
