From Fiddleback poor to Fiddleback rich in one week :)

My Nessmuk and Bushfinger arrived and my wife surprised me with the Kephart for my birthday it came in yesterday.

I’ve been eyeing everything over detail wise have to say I’m pretty impressed with the workmanship put into these knives. Really don’t see a single thing I could gripe about on them.

I really like the 1/8” A2 blade stock used it’s more than enough strength to handle any task you would do with knives of this size. Never understood why some makers use heavy, heavy blade stock on a 4” blade knife just way overkill.

The handles are ground/finished beautifully and wow they fit very nice into my hand. If I had to pick a favorite handle shape/fit wise it’s the Nessmuk for me it fits like a custom made glove.

I can see why the Bushfinger is so popular also just a perfect size, weight and blade profile for general outdoor use.

The Kephart I used alittle yesterday I had to work a evening/night shift. I made a few feather sticks, cut some notches plus some light carving. I like it’s handle shape best of the three for working wood it’s feels alittle fuller in my hand yet still contoured.

Still need a lot more time using the knives for a final opinion, however I like what I see and feel right now.

Sorry for the bad pic just a quick photo better than no photo anyway though.

Welcome to the ‘Fiddleback rich’ club. The best place to hang out on bladeforums in IMHO! Those are some nice choices. I just picked up my first keppy last week and very pleased with its ergos!

Andy’s kephart design is very unique and I’m sure your die hard historical kephart fans would roll over in their grave seeing one. I have and have had several different Kephart style knives both custom and manufactured. All differ some in blade profile, length and etc.

I’m a huge Kephart fan love the size, blade profile and thinner blade stock just a great woods carry knife for me. History aside, these kepharts and I just match up like bread and butter. I have two more custom Kepharts on order right now can’t get enough of them.

That all said with my limited use yesterday evening Andy’s design seems to be a better profile for working wood compared to the others I have. Overall I see it as a improved bushcraft designed/type Kephart I’m not sure if that was Andy’s goal or inspiration.

It’s also much pointer profile would make a nasty defensive weapon if ever needed.Thats not something your normally think of with a kephart.

Thanks for the link.

Beautiful sunny day here yesterday my wife and I went on a half day hike and cooked lunch on the trail.

I’m really, really liking Nessmuk it’s surprised me on how well it’s doing all the task I normally do.

I wanted to like the Bushfinger best it’s just such a nice do everything design.
Right now it looks like the Nessmuk’s going to be my favorite of my three.

I can see myself having two Nessmuks down the road. Would love to have one in cpm-154 with Burlatex handles for a extra durable camp knife.
