New field pup

Hey guys, first time in the sog forums......just bought a second sog

Have had an old NW ranger for years and have heard good things about the field pup

Picked one up a couple days ago for a friends birthday but was disappointed to learn it is in alphabet steel and not good aus-8.

Has anyone had good or bad experience with the new steel, they have another one a really good sale after their tradeshow. Is it worth picking one up for myself or should I try to find an aus-8 one?

I've heard good things about 7Cr17MoV on other forums. The new Field Pup made from it, will probably be just fine. My experience with that series steel is limited to the lower end versions. And that experience was good.

By the way, I picked up a Field Pup soon after they came out. Had it about a year and traded it to a friend after getting a Field knife. Aside from the thumb ramp being a bit to poky for my taste, I rather liked the knife. They are a good slicers and the handles are quite comfortable. I say, Use it and report back.
