This is the prototype for my new model 93 fighter. ATS-34 and green canvas Micarta, bead blasted. I've decided to redesign the handle, adding about 1'2" of length and a slight forefinger placement, but I'm still pretty pleased with the prototype.

A while back, there was a gentleman on one of the forums who could see to it that donated knives got into the hands of our soldiers overseas doing the fighting. I tried a search, but came up empty (or else I didn't do it right.) Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have two of these, the one pictured and another identical except not bead blasted, that I would like to donate. Thanks!

Maybe Bobby Branton? I know George Tighbourne here in Canada is putting knives together for some troops. E-mail these guys. BTW, Way to go man! Nice knife, great sentiment.

If I could make a comment: The knife looks great, but a lanyard hole would be a good add.

Overall great knife.

nice blade dude!!!!

I like the fact it has a double guard, if you stab and hit bone your hand may slide forward if you don't have enough meat as a guard to stop the inertia....

I only really use lanyard holes really for tacticals for Airborne Troops since they have to have two ways to secure their blade during Airborne Ops, until they hit the ground.

im not sure of the poster before but my old unit just re deployed. if you are unable to locate him i assure you that i will make sure that anything donated gets to a a soldier. great lookin knife, amd thamks for your kindness.

hey there!

There is a company called Brigade Quatermaster that is able to ship donated custom knives to troops overseas.

I am curently overseas in Iraq myself, with 7 other Air Force Security Forces members (think Air Force Infantry, believe it or not!!) We would be more than happy to help with the shipping and distribution of knives to our fellow Americans over here!

We are currently working with the Iraqi Army (living, eating the same food, sleeping "outside the wire" with them) and are in need of good reliable tools such as these.

Hope this helps, and thanks for your support!

Well, I've never had too much trouble selling my knives, so I was surprised that I couldn't give them away!

I never could get in touch with the gentleman running the knives for soldiers program awhile back. I also e-mailed Brigade Quartermasters, but they never replied.

At Docdredd's suggestion, I did some research on Adopt a Sniper, which has been re-named American Snipers. Michelle Malkin did a column on them awhile back, and they seem to be a good organization. They replied to my
e-mail quickly, and were happy to take the knives. Both will be going overseas, either to Iraq or Afghanistan.

I hope a couple of our guys will find them to be useful tools.

And if the pointy end should happen to find its way into a terrorist, it won't hurt my feelings any...;)

For those of you who have donated knives to the front lines, have you recieved any photos of your blade(s) in action? That would be worth more than selling it, for sure.

:)

No pics for mine. I did get a few emails from the guy who recieved it which was cool. More importantly, the second one was to say he got home safe!

I've dragged this one back to the top because I wanted to show the re-design I was talking about. As noted, about 1/2" longer in the handle and a forefinger placement added. This one's going to Iraq with my (soon-to-be) nephew, who is deploying in August.

On a side note, how in the world did I get old enough to have a nephew in the army??? I must have dozed off for a decade or so...
