This was a custom order by a fellow forumite. I thought I'd share pics. Any feedback would be appreciated. Blade is 6.5", 1095 steel, handle is micarta. Thanks for looking...

I'm really not digging the sub hilt finger thing... It's distracting to me. I think the knife would look better without that.

Of course thats just my opinion and taste.

Thanks for the comments. The knife is made by stock removal. The integral subhilt is a matter of personal preference. It was the customer's request and I happen to like it. He liked it too so it's all good.

Like it, but I'm curious how you got the temperline?

And the 'subhilt' handle reminds me of the model Jerry Fisk has been making lately, the Rover; his is just a little more subtly done on a more graceful blade... Yours looks quite sturdy, and I wouldn't mind spinning that one in hand to see how the 'sub' part works...

Nice work!

Pretty Cool Fighter Ray.I like the subhilt style & think it would look good without the subhilt too.

Handle would be great if built to the customer specs. I, for instance have very large hands, so as a production knife you could never make it fit everyone. Since it's not a production knife the fit wouldn't come into play. What impresses me is the choice of steel. Bet it takes an edge very well and holds the edge. Nice one for sure.

Thanks for the responses. Just about everything on the knife is by customer's specs from the materials to design. He didn't draw it but he told me all of what he wanted and left it up to me.

joeshredd, the blade is heat treated using clay. That's how I got the hardening line. Again, customer wanted it that way.

i love the handle, the colors relly give it a modern flair to an old style. it looks as if it's meant for a big hand though, be sure it will fit the customer's hand

great work though, and i hope to see you at the blade show this weekend! :D

Badkarma, what blade show this weekend? I always want to go but I didn't know there was one this weekend.
