Just finished the new fighter blade. It's 5160, hardened in crisco and tempered at 375 for 1.5 hours. Now just gotta get a handle on it.

Yeah, seems like you're a little "up in the air" about the handle material.....Hey, how about using a chunk of that nice pressure treated post!;)

hmmmm...Not a bad idea, it's green and the weather won't hurt it and I have some pressure trees I just cut. Might just work.
Rhino, it's so well balanced that it will just hang there in mid air for hours.

i like that shape. peter if you drill or scoup out the handle, i do mine on a 2" contact wheel, you may still be netural balance.after setting the handle. just a idea for you.

it's 14' LOA and the blade is 8'...the skull crusher is 1.5'. I'm close to finish now. I have one more scale to do but it's Rosewood and that makes me sick as he)) when I work with it. Maybe tonight.

peter if i remenber, you said you had troble breathing. give your self some time to breath. i myself used rosewood once
period! it made my skin burn. i will not use it or ibony. i stay with woods that do bug me and i started keeping my dog out of the shop. since she doesnt wear a resperitor.

Thanks Laurence, I used my Hazmat suit tonight and took a shower right after. (it's the first time I've gotten to use it since the end of the world hasn't happened yet) I feel OK tonight. Last night was another matter though. I shouldn't have used it but this knife just called for it. I expect this my last Rosewood article. Turned out well though. I'll post pictures sa soon as I finish.

Peter,

nice blade!!!
can't wait to see it compleeted.

don't kill yourself doing it,
wear a good resperator while your working and when you are cleaning the shop afterword.

p.s.
I got the pictures on Imagestation.com like you said and have been trying for 2 days to get them to download. but no luck:( the album is under collectables, sword and knives

Eric, I'm sure the neighbors are certain I'm crazy. I wore a rubber suit complete with built in boots and hood and a gas mask.

Image station is a little tricky. After you get the picture in an album open it (the picture) Right click on the picture and select "open link" when the new window opens go the the address bar and copy the address. When you post the link here just usr the
command. It works great.

I have been having posting pictures from these other sites myself.I have found that it is just as easy to put the pictures on my Homestead site and post them from there. It doesn't really take that long to make the pages as they have a really simple system to use and you don't have to know html codes or nothing to build the pages.Just a idea.
