I got this from Jimmy and Chris.....basically a Cabin Boy on steroids, a 4" blade with 1/4" stock as opposed to a 3" blade and 3/16" stock. 1095 expertly heat-treated and tested. These are green cord-wrapped and, of course, AMAZINGLY SHARP!

I can't recall the name of the longest knife in the picture but it's right at 6" and 3/16" stock......makes a great trio that could do about any knife related chore extant.

Dudley,

Big Congrats on your score !
Love the trademark Fikes green cord wrap.
..and I know they are very sharp and hold that sharpness exceedingly well.

Your Cabin Boy is sick.
Thanks for showing...

Dudley, awesome as always! It always makes my day to see a new one from him. The knife world needs more of his knives to shake things up.;)

I've got a similar one from Jimmy called the Fiddler's Bitch. It's about a 4 and something blade, 3/16" stock and brown wrap from sometime in the mid to late '90's. Chisel ground as well. If I find the time I'll get a pic of it.

But that 6" one is the bee's knees! What a trio.

Excellent acquisition my friend!

So glad to see a new piece pop up from Jimmy every now and again.

Funny, there's a thread in shop talk about "can 1095 out perform modern alloy steels." It would be unfair to include Jimmy's 1095 blades in that equation! ;) :D

Congratulations, Dudley, glad to see the boys still working! That's a nice fit between the CB and the FB, I think I need one!

Does the Bosun have a different mark on it from Jimmy's chrysanthemum? I know he had announced he's not making knives anymore, but is overseeing Tidwell's work in the shop. I'm sure that knife is top-notch, but hope its distinguishable.

Great set of hardworking knives!

Love mine! :)

Thanks and Jimmy has been back in the shop and finished a knife he had been working on....great news for all of Mr. Fikes fans!

Chris does mark the area behind the chrysanthemum, on the other side of the tang, with a small indentation from a center-punch to differentiate, at least on the ones I've got that Jimmy didn't entirely make himself.

They've got a couple of other projects going on, some camp knives and a cleaver I'm really looking forward to. :)

Oh wow.... love that look. Of course the word, Bosun, reminds me of my first cutter (US Coast Guard). He wasn't so sharp, but more like a hammer.

Hello, everyone, Thank you all for the great comments and interest on the Fikes Knives. I am really glad you are enjoying the Bos'n Dudley. Also very pleased that you are happy with your Bos'n Shawn, looking forward to seeing that sheath. Jimmy is doing a little better. He just finished a Camp knife that he had been promising for a while. I am hoping to have a few Camp knives and the
Field Cleaver from his design done in the next few months. I also hope to have some new videos up on YouTube shortly.
Thank you all again for the kind words.

Chris
