I was recently going through some old boxes, and came across this old Schrade. I don't really have much knowledge of the company, or their origin, but I'm sure someone here will chime in on that at some point. It's a neat little knife, and was in its own little brown leather Schrade sheath. I don't know anything about it, other than its brand name, and I can only assume it's a Scrimshaw because that is what's printed on the blade. I'm very much a novice when it comes to knives, so anything anyone has to say about it will be news to me, and quite welcomed. It has some nice weight to it for its size, and seems like a decent little folder. Can anyone give me any specific information on it? Things like possible year of origin, steel type, scale material, model, things like that. I would like to know everything I can about it. Thank you in advance for the help! I was quite excited to see this little guy sitting in the bottom of that box!

This pattern was marketed as an Old Timer with brown Delrin plastic handles, as an Uncle Henry with Staglon Delrin plastic handles, and as the cream colored 'scrimshaw' hot-stamped variation you show. They existed in endless variations in the 1980s, 1990s, and on up to the bankruptcy in 2004. Yours (and almost all of them) is in SCHRADE+ stainless steel and it appears to be for some contract for a private company give-away or some such. They are a very handy pattern. Not very valuable as a collectible but a really good user.

awesome, thank you very much for the information. it's always interesting to learn something new about an old find, and the company and story behind it.

TR nailed it - use that knife and enjoy having a little bit of American cutlery history in your pocket and in your hand. OH

I don't have any info for you, however I just had to say, this is the second Schrade "scrimshaw" folder I have stumbled across online this week. This looks like a cool little knife and it is definitely a lucky find!

I don't think anyone said it yet, but if you want to post a pic of the sheath, most of us really like to see those too!
