New Fixed Blade ( small )

Had to take a break from the norm, decided to knock out one of my new fixed blades. This is the first one I've done, so there will be some changes ; for instance in the future I think I'm going to just use the thong hole tube, or the screws. ATS34, 3/16 thick, 4.5 inch blade from tip of blade to tip of guard, almost 9 inches total. Black/marroon linen micarta, hardware is stainless. The blade is handrubbed, looks good, but I had a hard time figuring out how/when to rub the flats, did it after the handles were on as that seemed safest, looks good but still need to play. Hope you guys enjoy - Charles

I like making this style too. I always admire when someone can "knock out" as you put it, a clean neat design and do it well. The differential finishing is always a bit tricky. I've taken to mirror polishing (or at least 2000grit hand rubbing) the spine and the clip and 800 or 1200 on the flats and bevel. Seems to work for me (couldn't get other methods to show up as well).

I can't quite see how it turned out on yours. Any other pictures ?

Cheers. Good work.

Looks great, but I'm not sure I'd call it "small".

I like it though. Just wish it were 3.5" instead of 4.5".

Thanks guys.

Jason, the finish is my standard 400 grit handrubb, but since Im used to finishing the flats of folder blades out of the frame, I kinda had to rethink how to do it.

Andrew, I guess its easy to see who one of my influences has been ;)

Keith, thanks I just went to my parents for dinner, and Dad thought this was one of my best designs yet; The micarta doesnt have as much contrast as I'd hoped, but I'm very happy with it. The downside of this micarta is its one of the more expensive micartas.

Michael, I call this one small cuz the others are quite alot bigger.
RE: a smaller version, I think I may be able to work something up.

Thanks again guys -- Charles

You know I always love seeing your new designs, Charles, and this one's no exception. Very clean design. No frills, but a good looking knife nonetheless.

That is a nice knife Charles! Like already said, a very nice clean design!:D Keep up the good work!

Thanks Chris, Zenghost. Only got a couple new designs to premier right now, have to get caught up on orders ( being sick really slows ya down

:( ). -- Charles
