sal i have always loved spyderco knives i beleive they are cutting edge i mean that in design concept but i have to say the pinning of the blade on certain models just gives the knives a cheapy look they would look so much better and sturdier if they had a some sort of bolt or allen screw which would give the customer the appearance of being able to tighten it if blade became loose. and i have been waiting for a fixed blade some sort of rescue knife with yellow and black options for handle partially serrated and plain options, and not a blunt point just some ideas

In many knives there exists a discontenuity between what make the knife look sturdier to the customer and what actually makes the knife sturdy. The pin construction of spyderco fixed blades is phenomenally strong and is used by most of the custom knifemakers I know (including myself). Generally the epoxy that holds the handle to the tang is stronger than the handle itself and the pins justkeep eerything lined up right. Certainly for a smaller blade like the new Fred Perrin or the Ronin, pin construction is fantastic. Even for a slightly larger blade like the FB mariner that will be comming out sometime, screw construction would only add a psychological effect. One argument for knives that will be in harsh environments is that a removable handle allows for better cleaning. However, handles that are epoxyed to the blade create a seal between the two that doesn't require cleaning. Speaking personally, I think knives with bolt-on handles look cheaper than knives with pin constructed handles because pin construction is more difficult.
