I lost my Kershaw Blur on a camping trip. I needed a knife and went into town and found a Lowe's. Went in and picked up an SOG Flash II partially serrated blade. So far I'm very pleased with the performance of this knife. It's cut webbing, para cord, paper, wood, and even a rubber patch for a tube. I'll be using it for EDC so I'll find out more as time progresses. Little nervous about the zytel handles otherwise I like it.

I have this same knife. I abused it for over a year at work and it is still in great shape. Bought mine used from a friend and it came with a set of aluminum handles as well as the zytel. Not sure where he got them from but I much prefer the added weight of the aluminum. I'll see if I can find out where he got them from. Fair warning it was not easy to switch the handles but it can be done.

I'm new to the site and knives in general. I also just bought a SOG Flash II from Dicks Sporting Goods. Plan on using it on an 8 day fishing trip in Alaska, mostly for cutting gills on salmon to bleed them out, general purpose and possibly try it on the fish cleaning table. Will see how it holds up to fish slime and guts.

After checking with the SOG site on recommended use and maintenance, I decided not to use the Flash II for fishing use. It's not designed for that purpose. Instead, will use the Flash II for general purpose (clean) tasks and food prep during the trip. Just got a new Buck 110 and fillet knife for the messy tasks.

I plan on getting a Flash I for EDC at work. I love larger folders for EDC, but dress pants just don't accommodate them. The flash I is super compact and SOG's awesome pocket clips will make it easy to conceal.
