just got a Brinkmann aluminum 2AA Maglight wannabe. I've had good experiences with an led light of theirs so i gave it a try. its called the Legend. it wasn't very legendary, but the grip holds nicely and the light is pretty bright. not a bad backup for my maglight, and since i dont have the wallet for a surefire...

I couldn't agree more. The initial cost of the Surefire is acceptable, but the cost of maintaining it is scary (ie; batteries and bulb assembly). As for the one you bought, I've never had one. Let us know what you think of it.:)

FWIW,you can get the batteries for about $3.50 at a wholesale club or shop around the net and find them for $2.50,and sometimes on sale for $2.00.Since they keep for 10 years I wait for the sales and stock up.

Try www.botachtactical.com

They have Energizer 123A for $2.oo right now.You have to do a shearch on their site,I did not see them list under batteries.

I tried botachtactical, but couldn't find the 123a batteries (neither "Energizer" nor "123A" will do). What's the search term you're using?

Thanks,
Ralf

so far so good. its bright, durable, handy, cool looking. just heavy enough to make a good defensive weapon in a pinch. i suggest picking one up. in any case, you could use it in situations that would jeopardize your surefire. \

BTW botachtactical is first rate and i recommend them for just about anything you want to order.

yeah, it does. i really got it just so i could have that option when i didn't want the twist on of the maglight.

Supposedly you can take the tailcap off the Brinkmann and put it on the Mini-Maglite. Something I haven't tried yet.
