New Flashlight

This definitely won't be the last light you edc. ;) The LD01 is a nice light and I carry one on my keychain.

Congrats on the LD01. I've EDC'd a flashlight for about as many years as you are old. They are darn handy to have in your pocket.

But why the video? There's already tons of info available on that model.

I am wondering about the modes. If i have it and i turn it on it will be in medium. If im done and i turn it off for a while, and need it again, and i turn it on will it be back on medium or will it be on low?

If 20 AAA batteries will last you six years, it must never get dark where you live. (Or you go to bed really really early.)

By the way...glad your mom didn't kill you or put you on internet restriction. How did you fix the scratch from the aborted knife review?

Because of this thread, I ordered an LD01. Needed a keychain light anyways...

sweet. I just found a 20 pack of AAA rayovacs that expire in 2017

Just to pass on a bit of personal experience, I've had about five times as many Rayovac batteries leak as any other brand, some of them while they were still working. My Fenix L2D still bears the scars from the first, last and only set of Rayovacs it has seen.

One question on the LD01. Which is it, twisty switch or convenient one-hand operation? For me, a twisty switch on a light that size is anything but convenient.

It is a twisty. You can still get one hand operation with it, although due to the threads I find that I experience mode jumping or skipping (on the SS version, unsure about the Aluminum version) while only using one hand. I don't mid it much but others may find it annoying.

I have an E01 and can twist it fine with one hand. In fact that's the most convenient way to turn it on. Second the cheap batteries comment. It's worth it to buy the good brands.

ill add to this as well.. stay away from alkalines if you can in these more up to date flashlights. more times than not a leak will kill these flashlights. spend the money on NIMH's recarcheable batteries or pay more and go lithium. both of those will run longer and maybe brighter than cheapo alkalines.

btw nice flashlight for EDC (most guys use those small lights as backups).. i EDC a Quark CR123-2

if you really want to EDC a nice SMALLish flashlight go for one that is powered by an AA battery. AA batteries are 3 times stronger than AAA's. just some things to think about. i have a few Fenix lights and they are great
