Received this from Anton recently - he's one of the Port Elizabeth makers in SA.

What you must remember here is that this is Anton's second flipper - yes, only his second ever made.

Have a few flippers, not as many as some, but enough to know the feel and touch of a mechanism and the way they can move when opened.........and have to admit that the feel of this piece is ultra smooth, precise and solid.

Some quick specs:

Blade - M390 HRC 62.5

Bolster and clip - Vineland Damasteel

Scales - LSCF

Liners - Ti

Pivot - 440 s/s caged bearings

- nice comfy thumb-ramp and jimping

- note the neat way the clip follows the bolster

P1060169.jpg

- simple and effective filework on the spine

P1060168.jpg

- lovely snap to the detent closing the blade from this point

P1060156.jpg

- sure, maybe not as fast as IKBS, but this baby flies open

- my pic may not be quite dead-centre, but this blade is - perfect

- for me, around a 30~40% lock-up is spot-on...........nice n reassuring

What similar flippers would I put it close to, well, Anton's fellow countrymen, the brilliant Andres - Andre Van Heerden and Andre Thorburn. I reckon many would be hard put to realise this is only Anton's second flipper when comparing with these other two........

A great folder, Anton - wonderful fit and finish - if this is your second, you're going great places, my friend.

A final pic...

A real mark of quality is how well he matches the the fit of the bolsters to the scales on the S curve. He didn't cheat and use a bevel edge at the joint. Looks very well executed! Nice.
