I wanted to come up with a smaller size friction folder that would fit nicely in a pocket without the need for a sheath, and one that did'nt have a lot of bells and whistles that I could sell at a lower cost , and this is what I came up with. Closed this little guy is 3"(not counting curl and tang extention) with a 2" blade.Blade is 1095 with an aged finish, liners are red brass, copper pins and handle overlay. Backspacer is fileworked mild steel, and scales are weathered barn oak. I will offer a varitity of scale material such as curly maple and walnut, and of course weathered oak, as well as options of bolsters, sheath, ect.

Thats a cool little knife John. I bet those would move well at a show if the price was right.

Thanks guys! That is what I thought as well. We'll test that theory in Atlanta in May. I plan on having a half dozen or so of these with different options to show around in the Pit, and if I have any left they will be on different purveyors tables.

very cool litle knife, in my opinion, i would remove the twisted extensions, but thats jsut me. i really liek the scales you have on it right now as well.

John, that's a great design, well executed in all respects pertinent to the design, and I really think you will do well with it:thumbup::cool:. I would like one myself, (that will have to wait).

For some reason, I see Kevin Jones walking around with one of these in his pocket one day in the future...

Thanks Lorien.I look forward to making more of these. I even plan on making one for my personal carry knife. If you ever decide you do want one ,it is just a PM away:D

I carry a small friction folder, japanese style (steel frame inside of a wooden frame) designed by Jeff Goldberg and built by IC-cut for him. I keep it in a small pouch in my pocket to keep it from opening. How does your knife overcome this inherent problem with the friction folder to mee your design objective to "fit nicely in a pocket without the need for a sheath?" Do you use a magnet?

Thanks Lycosa. You will be seeing more of these soon. Brownshoe, I will offer a deerskin pouch as a low cost option for these folders for those that feel they need it, as well as a multi-carry sheath option. The reason I feel there is no reason for a sheath to carry these in your pocket is because I peen the pivot pin on these tight. I carried this one in my pocket for a couple of days and could not make it come open in the pocket. Also the pivot pin is left domed with the peened finish, so if it ever begins to loosen slightly over time, a few light taps on each side with a small ball peen will fix it right up!
