So, since my Ikuchi didn't work out, I'm back at the drawing board.

On my radar currently:

Spyderco Sliverax
WE Practic
MD/Zinker dogtooth rosewood

I'd prefer to keep it under $200, but the MKM Raut and WE bishop are calling my name.

I don't care for metal handles/frame locks

No Benchmades, Emerson's, or tactical type knives. I don't want a PM2 or Para 3.

Blade length 3"-3.6"

Under 5oz, preferably under 4.

I have:

TSF Beast
SG Spider Monkey
Bailey model 2
ZT 0095S90VBLK
Kizer Ki4423
Spydercos:
Domino, Gayle Bradley, Manix 2, Yojimbo 2.
MD/FF Gent select
Brous Bionic

Thanks for your input y'all.

Edit: I dislike thumbstuds.

Just a heads up on the silverax its very comfortable in the hand, but is a terrible flipper with extremely light detent on the models I've handled. It does spydieflick very well though.

The WE Practic is awesome. Has one of the best flipping actions I've experienced. Thin hollow ground blade cuts well. Machined clip works great. It's very...practical.

If you like the Practic, check out the Ferrum Forge Crux as well. Just a really well built, no frills flipper. Pretty happy with mine.

I don't want a metal handle, otherwise a lot of the MD collabs would appeal to me.

I also like the Practic. It feels great in hand and that blade shape is wonderfully versatile. The action is just as good as everyone is saying. I only have one complaint and it closely resembles the problem I have with their budget champion, the Civivi Baklash. I don't like the blue hardware!

If you like blue hardware or can at least tolerate it, then the Practic is a slam dunk.

I understand where you are coming from with the hardware. Everyone seems to be doing anodized screws, especially blue, and especially on otherwise plain Ti.

If it's a knife like the Bishop, it matches the blue bolster. And I think it looks good on the tan Practic.

I'd like to see more color variation. Green is my favorite color, love the solitary spacer on the 0095.

Unless it's carbon fiber, I'm sick of black scales. In the process of replacing the black G-10 on my Yo2 with unique brown micarta.

Titanium (plain, ano'd, etc) has gotten old. Otherwise, there would be a lot more on my radar.

I'd pass on the dogtooth. I have a blue one (frame lock) and the MD Gent. The Gent is far better.

Agree on the WE Practic. I have the black version, and it is amazing knife. At it's price point, I really don't think it can be beat.

Is the Brous Bionic not made out of
a-loo-min-ee-um anymore? I had a first gen, wretched little knife. I will never own another Brous.

Mine is a first gen as well. I'm just saying I don't want anymore metal handled knives. With some (albeit hack job) modifications, I like the knife. Filed the back down as well as the flipper. However, it is one of those designs that feels unfinished. Something lost in translation.

Btw, love your British pronunciation of aluminum.

Anyway, I'm buying a WE Deacon in purple from the exchange. Couldn't pass it up. Love CF, love the purple bolster, backspacer.

Metal bolsters are fine, just not the whole knife. I live 40 miles northwest of Chicago, and having a frozen piece of metal in your pocket is not fun.

I don't carry those kind of knives in the winter. Before marriage, divorce, and illness, the distance to my garage from my apartment was a good distance. So by the time I got to my car, my leg would start going numb. Now, living at home, I at least don't have to walk anywhere, since I no longer drive (for the time being) so it's not as bad as before.

Yeah, I'm the idiot who carried a ZT 0801 in my slacks or khakis to work. Ah, the joys of working for the family business.

Ergonomics are very important to me. I like non-metallic scales that feel good in my hand. Even with a smaller handle, it has to fill my hand enough. I prefer liner locks for that reason and I can be picky about clips. The Practic really clicked with me and it's a shame I can't get over the hardware. I'm still hoping we'll see a special edition or sprint run that gets around this issue.

Green is also my favorite color. I have a green Civivi Courser. The nestled gold liner looks good and isn't too flashy. The blade is both effective and very attractive. My only complaint with that one is that I wish there was a little more handle. That might sound strange because it is technically larger than the Practic but the shape causes me to get less grip on it.

If you end up with a tan Practic, I'll be curious to see your thoughts on it.

Got a purple Deacon instead. That isn't to say I won't own a Practic, maybe later in the year.

I have a MD Zinker Dogtooth in GO, and it has one of the best actions of all of my knives. Falls shut with the slightest momentum, just a hair less free swinging than my Skaha. It also comes in a true lefty version, if that matters to you. Around $100 for a lefty lock is unbeatable.
