Well this is number three, number two is at the mercy of the post office as it was stainless and I had to send it out and it won't be back before I head out tomorrow night. This one is for my father who has been bugging me for the longest to make him a folder with a 52100 blade.

Triple quenched, forged 52100 blade with light etch, black G-10 bolsters, stabilized bone scales, jewled heat colored ti linners store bought pocket clip, I broke the ti one I was making. Blade is 2 3/4" cutting edge, 6 3/4" over all length.

Will that's great! I like the G10 bolsters and jeweled liners, and that blade is the trick. Nice work! Don't let my dad see that or he'll be all over me to make him something too. :D

Beautiful work Will. I like the lines and the liner really sparkles.
Great job!

Thanks guys, he's already got me lined up on a double blade slip joint in 52100, that I'm not looking forward too!

This one turned out well, and a lot better than I thought.

One question, on bending ti for the pocket clip do you heat it to bend or bend it cold?

Thanks

Way to go Will!!!!!

Will, that looks really nice! I appreciated the details when I clicked on the thumbnail pictures. Your dad will be v-e-r-y happy, fella.

Great folder Will,

I heat titanium to bend for pocket clips. The first one I bent cold broke.

Looks great Will! I'd be proud to carry that knife and your father sure will be too. :)

That 52100 should be a fantastic performer. How thick was the blade when you started?

If you use .040 or .050 ti the clips shouldn't be a problem to bend cold and they'll be plenty hefty enough to work right. Use an arbor press and some blocks to make the creases. Or just buy 'em from Halpern and modify them. ;)

Thanks Guys, I forget the exact measurements, but the blade was between 1/8" and 3/32". I used a cup grinding stone and magnetic chuck and my mill to precision grind the rough forged blank.

I tried to make a pocket clip out of .50 ti cold but broke it on the first sharp bend. The next one I'll try heating it befor bending. Gotta love thouse little screws!
