I am in the market for a new folder since I can't trust my CQC-8 anymore (the lock keeps failing) I want a good one. I am looking for a tactical knife that can take anything I throw at it. I have been looking at either a Strider SMF Tanto CC, Mercworx Lachesis, or ???????? I know striders are good, but the short cutting edge kinda pushes me away. I have a MW Sniper and it is one hell of a knife, tough as nails and looks great. I just don't know how the folders are being BG-42. Any suggestions would be great. (I would like to stay under $500)

Send the 8 to Ernie for a tune-up. Get a Walmart Spyderco or Kershaw to last until it gets back.

I have heard that Sebenzas can be weak, plus chris reeve's warranty sucks I don't know what you can do with those knives to be covered under warranty.
Are they strong enough for hard use, and how is the Umnumazzan?

None of my 13 Sebs has beeen "weak" in any way and I have used them outdoors on hiking trips and holiday trips.

CRK's warranty will cover failure while doing anything a knife is designed to do.

Can a Sebenza owner post photos of their knife being used?

:D

Something besides food prep would be nice. Batoning firewood, prying open a car door, chipping mortar to loosen bricks from a wall, something like what it sounds like the OP is asking for - a working knife.

I think that's what a hard use tactical folder is supposed to do - and those warranties seem to cover it.

Besides Strider - and they are available - you could try for a Hinderer, which seem to be in extremely high demand. And it would be nice to see pics of others in the same class. The ZT is a good suggestion.

Is a S30V and a Ti framelock mandatory?

If Emersons and Sebenzas aren't tough enogh, then you need a Busse or an ax.
