new Folding knife

First, welcome to Bladeforums, and the Becker subforum. My first recommendation would be for you to pick up a BK9. Because, you can't not have a 9. Also, make sure you read the stickies and the rules thread to be sure that your stay here is as enjoyable as it has been for me.

That being said...

Totally the wrong section. Perhaps a mod will move this to the General section for you? Or you could give the search function a try, since you didn't provide nearly enough information for anyone to help you out. Preferences as to blade shape and style? Locking mechanism? Other features (flippers, for instance)? Handle materials? Etc.

It's always worth starting with one of the big 3 (Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw). I'm fond of the Spydie Tenacious, Benchmade griptilian, and Kershaw S30V Blur as starter knives in your price range. The Tenacious is usually cheaper than your budget range, and you can find many other great Spyderco offerings in your range if you want to step up to a more expensive one. The Ka-bar Phat Bob is another phenomenal value with excellent performance, as is the Buck Vantage Pro. Be careful though! Folders can be almost as addictive as Beckers, and far more expensive.

On second thought, just get a BK11, 14, or 24. Fixed blades are cooler anyways :D

Oh! You're new! Welcome.

Yes, try adding a little more info and posting in General.

I would say for $50 to $100, get a Benchmade Griptilian or Mini Griptilian. If you can live with the round hole, get a Spyderco Manix 2 light weight or for a little more, a Paramilitary 2.

From Kershaw, the Skyline is an awesome knife.

And yep, you NEED a 9. There aren't not so many reasons that you can't not have not no 9. Aint it a funny insider joke!

Welcome... I agree with the 13, 24 possibilites but if you want a folder i carry a cold steel recon 1 clip point. It has held up great. After a year I have a little side to side movement but not much. The aus 8a holds a pretty good edge... Wish there was a becker folder though.... Just saying
