This is a new forge I made over the weekend out of a 3 gallon propane bottle. Think it may be number 9 or 10. I find the three gallon bottle works best for the forging I do plus its real portable. Its also got the back door so longer blades can be done in it. Pretty much like Don Fogg's except its totally contained. I made the cut on this one at the bottom for easy fix and repairs. Its held on with a few tack welds.

The skinner is 1065 with a 5" blade and around 10" total. I used one of the nicest pieces of osage orange I've ever seen for the handle. More wrought iron fitting and a blackwood spacer....

Awesome handle...never seen any Osage with such a pronounced pattern....Beautiful work:eek: I love the design.

Hell, it even looks balanced. Really nice looking handle too. I see that grind. Nicely done. RL

Wayne Goddard had given me a bunch of odd ball chunks of wood a couple years ago. Took me awhile to figure out how to cut the piece that was used on this knife and I've got two more almost identical to it. Wayne had planted the tree that this wood came from out at a friends place here in Oregon. Think he said the tree was around 30 years old.

Wowo.....I really love this one!

Osage is my favorite wood but I can say I've seen a piece that nice!

I may have "bogart" a piece of that 1065 off of you....I can't seem to find it local.

Richard,
I really like your knifemaking style. Two thumbs up for this wonderful piece!:D

All the best,
Mike U.

Thanks you guys for the positive comments....

Greg, Shoot me an email on the 1065, maybe I could send you a piece so you can try it out and maybe make some kind of arrangement when I go to the steel store...
