A while ago I was watching a video on WranglerStar's Youtube channel and saw a video showing the Wranglerstar guy receiving a forged adze from a viewer. After some research I found that the Young Man that made it for him is a Blacksmith in Canada, I may be mistaken but I also think he is a teenager or in early College. His name is Paul Krzyszkowski and his Youtube channel name is: Paul Krzysz

I commissioned him to forge me a small 1.3 lb axe head. It is forge welded with a High Carbon bit forged in for the wedge. I love it. I put it on a 18" handle and it is perfectly weighted and balanced. I had some troubles getting the edge and handle lined up but other than that it was a fun little project.

I do have one question. when I was seating the wedge, a little crack developed on the backside of the handle by the head. It's in line with the groove I cut for the wedge. It's only about a 1/2" long. I figure I'll let it go and use it and if it gets bigger I'll replace it. Any danger in my thinking? It's shown in the last picture.

Here it is:

I don't think you're in danger, but I would rehang it if it were mine. If I can't trust the axe, I can't focus on the work, and I can't trust it if it has a known fault.
