Hey friends,
I finished this one last week. It has an eight in blade of 1084. It is fully forged and edge quenched. I etched the blade in ferric chloride to show the temper line.
The guard is mild steel which I shaped in with my forge, anvil, and vise. (Thanks to Bruce Evans for the online tutorial!!) The finish on the guard is cold blueing.
The small brass collar is brass and is silver soldered in place.
The handle material is black locust wood...which was bright yellow naturally and after several stain attempts...the best color I got was with brown leather dye.
I made the sheath of 8-9 oz hide and added the tooling on the face as an extra touch.
It was made with a culmination of ideas from Bruce Evans, Bill Bagwell, Wayne Goddard and Ed Fowler. I have been carrying it for a week now and I love it!!
