Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I've posted any of my work here. I've been very busy in the shop. Anyway, here's my version of a Filipino sword. It's a great chopper, but also very stabby. The handle is carved walnut, and the 1084 blade is 17,"OAL 24.5." I really like this design. Comments welcome, of course.

Yes. Very much yes. Where's the POB and POP? I like that one very much.

Thank you, Sir! The point of balance is 4" in front of the guard. Not sure what is meant by POP. The next step is to make the scabbord from walnut also. Looking forward to that.

Sorry. Point of percussion. The point at which a perpendicular impact will generate perfectly opposed rotational and translational forces.

Still Greek to me. Are you referring to what is known as the "sweet spot?" The point at which the blade strikes the object?

The two are often conflated, yes. Basically, you hang it from a cord and whack it. The impact pushes it, and also rotates it around an axis. So at any other spot, it would both get pushed and rotated. At the point or center of percussion, the rotational force will counter the force of it moving, and it will be momentarily still.

Awww, you're messin' wit me. What does that tell you about the sword?

Very cool sword - it almost has an "elvish" look to it. It would be great to have pair of these to run some Kali or Escrima moves with. I like it, she is beautiful.
