Another new knifemaker and myself spent a couple of days putting 4 forges together. We went the low budget route. We used 8'' ductile iron pipe cut into 16" lengths, welded angle iron shelf on the front, piece of steel on the back, and 1" rebar legs, and 1"pipe with a thumbsrew to hold a JTH-7 torch. We're lining them with Inswool and Bubble Alumina. I fired the lined 1 up and decided to reduce the chamber size, more Bubble Alumina just arrived from Ellis and I'll finish both in the morning. Next time I'll look for 6" pipe on the job. The Inswool was an ebay find for $20, enough to do 9 or 10 forges, JTH-7 & thumbscrews from home depot, and the bubble alumina from http://forgegallery.elliscustomknifeworks.com/ were the paid items. I hope they work
