Well lately I have been itching for a nice classy slip joint. I have been Che king the classifieds an seen a bunch of beauties but either was to late or out of my price range. So today I go a local flea market intent on finding something. The first stand I am at is a knife stand an a gentleman walks in asking the owner if he had any Remington's. He tells the owner he sold over 100 of them today.
So I wait till they are done talking and ask him if he has any left. He says yes but doesn't want to sell them. He offers to show me them and being a knife guy I take him up on it. After talking with him for about 2.5 hrs I find out he inherited a collection of mostly Remington knives. He got hundreds of brand new old Stock. Today alone he sold $2300 with of knives. One guy bought $1300 worth of knives from him about 20 minutes before me. He had a lot of really nice knives an lot of collector edition blades. Also some great Damascus bladed knives. I am pretty sure the fella who bought $1300 worth got the cream of the crop, he was a reseller.
I did a little looking an the guy WAS selling $100-$150 knives for $25-40. After the one gentleman bought a ton he decided he better raise his prices. After hanging out with him for awhile he decided he would sell me a few.
I know nothing about these knives so I haggled him down the best I could an walked about with all of the below knives for $145(hope I didn't over pay, I know none of mine are very old)
I think I paid probly going rate for these knives so I am happy with that but more importantly I have fallen in love with with old traditional style knives. Really looking forward to getting a couple more but for the time being I will be gladly carrying these(except the mother of pearl, I got it for my wife)
My favorite is the small lock back. I am gonna build a little kydex keeper so I don't lose it an it will be my new edc.
