Well, I have been looking at Wetterlings and Gransfor Bruks small forest axes and pretty much made up my mind on a Wetterling when a buddy said he had a friend that wanted to sell his GB SFA. Went to look at it today and brought it home for $70 hard cash. This guy obviously did not know how to maintain it as it showed surface rust and there was dirt stuck to it. No worries for me as I like character on certain outdoor tools. Got it all cleaned up, but this axe looks like it has been used for more than the 5x the previous owner said. The handle soaked up 3 coats of mineral oil and the leather which looked like it has hit water was conditioned with some nice beeswax leather conditioner. Touched up the edge to smooth out the dings too. Tomorrow I will try it out.

Have a look!

Needs more Beckers in it.

Nice....I agree, some tools just look better the more character they have. And axes/hatches are definitely one of them.

Good price and will give you years of service. Especially if you take care of it. They hold an edge very well also.

Tried, but could not delete any of the above photos to add the one with my BK2 in it. I knew you would chime in about that moose. Here it is
