Hey all,
My name is Ben. I thought I would join here to broaden my horizons. I'm currently a member of Australia Blade Forums with same user name.
I am a Medic in the Navy and I make Kydex Sheaths as a hobby. Check out my FB page https://www.facebook.com/customtacticalsheaths
I'm also just getting into knife making. Currently making my first blade (stock removal at the moment until my forge is working) so I'll be searching the forum for any and all info I can find.
Cheers,
Ben

G'day Ben. I had to look at your Facebook page to see what town you're in. Turns out I wasn't far from there in June as we drove from the Sydney airport down through the Royal National Park. And I'm often in Campbelltown-Minto-Leumeah area for work. Several Aussies hang out down in the Schrade Collectors sub-forum too, if you have any interest in those.
Welcome to Bladeforums!

Thanks for the welcome Bob. Do you live in Sydney too? Or just come past some times?
Cheers,
Ben

My home is in New Mexico, USA, but I'm often in NSW and QLD for work. And last month I had the chance to take the family down under for a two week holiday.

Welcome to BF! I just finished reading a great book on your country: "In a Sunburned Country" by Bill Bryson. I always wanted to go to Australia and reading this has once again got me longing to go. My wife has a cousin Melbourne and she and her husband have sent us pictures of their Outback travels, just more fuel for our wishing.

G'day mate. I would love to see some pictures of your process or finished products. As an Aussie new to this forum I think it is important to show support for Australian talent especially for those who serve! The many Americans on this forum often express their patriotism towards blades made in their country and rightly so. I think we should do the same. Good luck to you Medic Ben.

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys. Unfortunately I can't upload photos at the moment. Not sure if that is because I am new (on Aus Blade Forums we have to post 20 times before posting pictures) so I will upload some of my work once I get access :)
Cheers,
Ben

Great book! But yes you should definitely come to Aus. It really is a great country. So many places to explore and such beautiful landscape and scenery

Great work! If you start making knives, I might be interested in getting one. :)

Haha. Still a long way off making one I would be happy selling (I'm too much of a perfectionist to be happy right away). But once I'm happy with what I'm making in may start selling some :)
Cheers,
Ben
