It just arrived today.

Pros: Love the AO -- very cool -- pretty much everything everyone else has said about it.

Cons: Fit and finish really could be better. It didn't arrive sharp -- I can even see along the edge where it has folded over a bit. Also, I can see tool marks along the edge so it need definitely needs some work.

Second, there are small tool marks on the backs of the washers that hold the scales together. The torx holes on the other side also have marks. The pocket clip is a little roughed up as well -- wish the finish was smoother.

All in all very cool, but gets 90 instead of a 100 because of the above.

FWIW: Mine (Polished G-10, S30V Leek), looked great out out the box. None of the above mentioned problems. The edge needed further honing, but thats not unusual.
No complaints about my Kershaw purchases.

Yep -- got it from knifeworks.com.

I am sure that Thomas would ask you to send it back to Kershaw if you don't mind, before you make any corrections to it, so that he may review the condition, and notify the accountable parties involved for correction, if need be.

Best Regards,

Hmm. Hadn't considered sending it in to Kershaw -- didn't think of that as an option. I will hang onto box, receipt etc then. I wasn't sure what level of fit/finish to expect.

The knife has a warranty, it is NIB, and Kershaw/Kai USA is constantly pushing the envelope to produce the best possible product.

Why would it not occur to you that you could send the knife in for review/corrective action?

It functions -- just has the small cosmetic issues I mentioned above -- companies vary in terms of that kind of service they offer on warranty -- so it really didn't occur to me.

bammann45, well the edge is what bothers me, if it is as you say, it's certainly not right.

If you have issues that need to be taken care of, just know we will will be there for you.

Thanks Thomas! -- that is amazing customer service. I just noticed you work for Kershaw and responded to my thread amazingly quickly. I am genuinely impressed.

I will try to post some pics of the knife tonight, work and newborn baby at home permitting... so you can see what I am talking about. To be honest, I will do some extra sharpening on it and keep it, as I really do like it and have waited for it for a week or so...

Why is this Thomas's problem and not Knifeworks.com's problem? Shouldn't the retailer be the one responsible for ensuring a happy customer? If I bought a pair of shoes or something else retail, and it was defective, I would take the matter up with the retailer, not the MFG. There are possible defects in anything mass-produced, so your dissatisfaction should be brought to the attention of knifeworks.com, not Thomas. Just my opinion, since Thomas's job is not warranty issues.

I wish more companies had people like Thomas at the helm...

That's what I was implying, but you worded it better.

Yeah, I do to. Guys like Thomas are what keep American companies great. He knows knives, he loves knives, and he is very, very good at his job, definitely in the top 10. It makes me proud that he is at Kershaw, and to call him friend.

To answer the question though, Knifeworks.com is in the business of moving product, out the door as fast as possible.

Thomas is in the business of becoming the dominant cutlery manufacturer in the world, one knife at a time.

You tell me who is going to be following up on this one, personally?

Kershaw is JUST another vendor to Knifeworks.com, could just as easily be HouLong DingDong Enterprises to them, look at their inventory.
