I just received my Ganga Ram Special, very happy. The Kami’s mark is below. The symbol is a leaf. Does anyone know what the two symbols are above the leaf? Are they the Kami’s initials and does anyone know his name?

The kukri is slightly over 22 inches and 53oz (3.3pounds). I can’t get over the sheer size of this thing. See the pictures below. It feels very powerful in the hand, with that tremendous Ganga Ram forward balance. I split a few rounds of seasoned pine with it yesterday swinging it with two hands- it performed fantastically. I guess I won’t be needing my axe anymore.

Here’s another picture next to 18” Ang Khola. Love the curvature of the Ganga Ram.

And another picture next to my Busse Straight Handle Battle Mistress for size perspective. It’s a beast.

If you don’t have a BIG kukri yet, I highly recommend it. They may not be the most practical for general purpose; much more of a specialized tool when heavy chopping is needed, but lots of fun. Go get one.

I bought a Ganga Ram from Uncle Bill back in the spring of 03 or so. A storm came through and toppled 3 or 4 huge sweet gums at my mom's. Actually, I had to use a 25" Kobra I had in my truck to even get out of the driveway and back to my apartment.

I bought the GRS to tackle the trees. It worked like a charm. Even my grandfather marveled at how well it kept up with his little chainsaw.

I used that knife until my hands were raw and bleeding and arm felt like it was going to fall off. To have the energy of a 22 year old again;)

That GRS has been my go-to destroyer of wood for nearly 2 decades. You picked a good one. It'll serve you well for several lifetimes :)

Thanks, love hearing these kind of usage stories!

I love reading stories of kukris being used for hard work. Just a badass knife, man.

Wow, what a beast!

Man , that thing is a real monster chopper .

I'd need a two hand handle to control that massive bad boy .:thumbsup:

Man I love Busse and Scrapyard knives like anybody else! I had a godfather CG and it burned down with my house and as big as that thing was I couldnt find it to save my life. Battle Mistress comes to mind! Anywayz since most of my HI collection was since the burning down of the house and prolly exclusively why. Id be a basket case if my HI collection burned! The most interesting part of these knives I always thought was the fact that they used water to deferentially temper them. Most would use oil but the Kamis did what they could with what they had and after hundreds of years of experience nailed it so to speak! Thats a beast of a chopper and grats on your acquisition Fish! Thats still my dream knife! I always wanted a 25" AK Magnum thinking it would be the closest to that Ram but man gotta do what a man gotta do! Mangadoo mangadoo!
