This GEC Northfield Harness Jack arrived in the mail today The handles are Burnt Stag. They aren't the best Burnt Stag I've seen from GEC but they are pleasing to my eye. The knife is 4 1/8" closed with a main blade length of 3" and a punch blade length of 2". Note the notch in the scale and liner above the UN-X-LD Shield to facilitate accessing the nail nick for the punch. Nice touch. I also like the way GEC recessed the shield into the scale. It sits down into the scale so that there is no sharp edge/point for your finger/thumb/hand to snag on as the knife moves in the hand when you are using it. Compared to some of the GECs of the same shape/frame this knife is thin/narrow and handles/carries nicely with no bulk. That is because this is a 2-spring knife. The main blade is swedged and has a long pull both of which set it off nicely. Id say the main blade has a pull of 6 to 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 and the punch blade has a pull of 7 to 8 on the same scale. The mail blade was very sharp as it came from the tube and the fit and finish of the knife overall is very good. No gaps between the springs and liners, etc..
Normally, I would have ordered this knife with a Clip Blade and it was available with a Clip Blade but this time I ordered this knife with a Spear Blade. That'll make it a very handy knife to carry this fall/winter when hunting squirrels and rabbits in order to facilitate skinning.
Gotta apologize for the picture of the knife in my hand. I bite my nails and work around the place so no soft hands.
