I received this GEC Tidioute Scout Brimstone Bone Linerlock knife in the mail yesterday. The knife overall is 3¾" long with a blade 3 1/8" long. Although the scales are bone, they present a stag appearance and the color is dark and rich. The thickness of the scales are uniform side-to-side and the blade, when closed, is centered between the liners. Overall the fit and finish is excellent. When opened, there is no blade-play what-so-ever.

EDIT: Length of knife edited from 4¾ to 3¾. Sorry for any confusion.

The coloring of the scales on this knife remind me of Queen's Amber Bone scales.

Beautiful knife, Ed. I just got the same one in burnt stag, a 2009 knife, and it came with a very nice, sharp edge. I think they have been listening to us! Mine also has no play in either direction. Good pickup.

Man for a production knife they do bone really nice. That stuff looks custom.

Their bone is something that they obviously take a great deal of pride in over at GEC. They do a really good job with it. The Grizzly is a nice pattern fer sure!

I forgot to mention in my initial write-up that this knife is pretty darn sharp out of the tube. I think they have been listening.

How hard is it to open the knife and pull the blade out? It is easy with the lockback #72, but I wonder whether these linerlocks are harder to open than Queens.

The linerlock is harder to open that the lockbacks. This knife's pull is a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 and there is a half-lock on this knife.

I think the confusion on the 23 -vs- 73 was from the size you posted originally (4 3/4" should be 3 3/4"). This is an older model back when they still bought some bone. This bone probably came from Culpepper, whom also supplies Queen with bone (thus the similarity).

GEC does not do bonestag in-house, yet. Thus the older Brimstone, Carved Pumpkin, and CSB were jigged elsewhere. The first two being my favorite bone slabs of all times (at least for now).

Thanks for bringing the mis-posted knife lenght to my attention. I edited my original post.
