Look what fell out of the mailbox!! I received this GEC Northfield Linerlock knife with Tractor Green jigged bone scales in the mail today. The knife overall is 3¾" long with a blade 3 1/8" long. The blade, when closed, is centered between the liners. Overall the fit and finish is excellent. When opened, there is no blade-play what-so-ever. The effort to open the blade is a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 and it does have a half-stop. I like GEC's #5 Drop Point/Skinner blade on this knife and the blade swedge sets it off nicely.

Nice . That looks good in green, and that jigging is great. I'm gonna need some green bone before too long. Every GEC I get is pretty much perfect- no doubt they're my favorite these days.

Wow, I really like that. Every GEC with tractor green scales on distributor sites has looked really dark... yours looks like real tractor green. I wonder if the photos on the distributor's pages just aren't color accurate. I pretty much passed on a knife specifically because of that.

Some dealers don't want a blade or the bolsters to have a "bright" (sun-ray effet) reflection in their photos; therefore, they adjust their lighting so as to avoid reflections and that effects the coloring in the picture -- tends to dull it down.

I like the knife, but not the lock, just ruins the lines, the green is really nice,

Thanks for the pics

I'm not a huge liner lock fan, but I think it is tastefully done on this knife. It doesn't stick up as far as a lot of liner locks.
I too like the green. Nice lookin knife Ed

I admire that Tractor Green, very good colour.

I've got a couple of their 73 liner locks (Stagbone Tidioute and Stag Northfield) and think very highly of them. Extremely well-made and the lock in no way interferes with your grip, they have the slipjoint spring as well which as usual is quite a tough one. I recommend one if you can get it.

i have never had dislike for the linerlock but admit the lockback gec is smoother. i believe i have more tractor greens than any other color bone. on that note i still have'nt found a gec green bone that takes my breath away but whom knows what tomorrow may bring. the scout model offers the best compromise for both urban & rural carry. anyone wishing a stouter utilitarian folder is advised to opt for the single blade pioneer vs the 2 blade scout.--dennis
