Today I received my new #721110 GEC Tidioute Lockback Mini Hunter with Washed Blue handles. I didn't know if I'd like it for sure but I definitely like the blue handles. There is no ½-stop and the pull is very smooth and it takes little effort to open the knife.

The book that the knife is posed on ("The Complete Book of Pocketknife Repair") is an excellent book filled with good information. It is out of print but can be found on "amazon.com". Especially well worth getting if you are a slip joint fan.

Very nice! What size is she? Looks pretty similar to the Mountain Man that Queen's been producing to bring back the old Remington Bullet.

I like it! The lanyard hole is a nice touch.

How's blade-centering and lockup, and how thick is the handle at its widest point?

Thanks.

Sounds like you're a little hesitant to say you like the knife overall - or am I reading more into your statement than was intended?

Thanks for the heads-up on the book, too!

The length of the knife closed is 3 7/8". The blade is right at 3 1/16".

At the bolster, the width is 5/8". At mid-handle measured where the "T" in Tidioute is the width is 7/8" and at the very heel of the knife the width is 1". The blade centering and lockup are first rate -- very good, actually, excellent.

Overall, I am very pleased with this knive. The size is just right and it slips into my pocket like it was made to ride there. I only questioned whether I would like the color of the handles and now that I have it I really like the blue handles.

Much appreciated, Ed, but I was curious about the handle thickness, rather than its width.

TIA.

Glad you're pleased. GEC really goes all-out when it comes to dying their bone handles, I've noticed. Super-vivid colors, and really deep as well.

Just shy of ½" (say 7/16") measured at mid-handle where the "D" is in Tidioute.

This knife is very compact compared to the 23 pattern and 54 pattern. It really is a handy size.

Curious. GEC says it's 3 7/8" long. Did they miss by a full quarter inch?

You're right. My bad. Serious typo. ALL other measurements are correct including blade length. I'll correct my post.

Thanks for catching my error.

I bought the book used for a few dollars on amazon, like modoc said, well worth it!

My blue Tidioute lockback came today. Very nice knife and a great handle color.

Would be nice if they made a lockback based on their Pioneer pattern, too.

I could spend a whole day taking pictures of all the stuff I need to take pictures of. :(

I'm interested in these GEC Lockbacks, the Frontier Bone option is particularly good. Think I will hold off until the Northfield versions appear, wouldn't mind a stainless version either. The lanyard hole is useful but I think it should be in brass to match the pins, having it in white metal might not look so good on some scales.
