Got my new GEC #42 Missouri with copperhead bone handles a week or so ago and am just now getting around to putting up pictures. Its a nice knife. Pretty stiff pull but seems to be loosening up a bit with a little lube and some use. It is a good size, for me at least. It fits perfectly in the KSF standard leather slip pouch. I thought it was appropriate to show it with my GEC #73 scout with antique peach seed bone handles. They are both excellent knives. I am still impressed at how sharp I can get the 1095 steel with minimal effort. I mean scary scary sharp. Just wanted to share! Have a good weekend everyone!!

Quite the polish on the blade from the factory. You can see the camera's lens in the reflection on the #42 in the first picture.

Nice knives they are! GEC makes some great stuff. I like the bigger sizes, really look like they will fill a large hand well.

I have the 1 bladed version of this pattern (Missouri Trader) in ebony, and I am loving it! The traders are lockback instead of slipjoint, which minimizes the "thumbnail-breaker" factor.

thanks for the photos, esp. with the comparison with the #73. I ordered a Trader with the same copperhead bone last week, and am curious to see how it will compare to the other gecs and how it will fit in hte hand.

Another great looking GEC. I'll bet you can't keep that one out of your pocket. ;)

They are both very nice knives. Its hard to choose which one to carry. They are both a great size and easy to carry. I am really liking the slip pouch to.

I am trying to choose between a new 42 or another 23 to add to my group these pictures are making me lean towards a 42. Thanks for sharing.

If you get a chance, could you post a photo of the joint on the Missouri Trapper?

Like this photo of the 73...

No problem. I had a 23 for a short time. I much prefer the 42 over the 23. For me the 42 is a lot easier to carry. Both great knives though.

Here is a few pictures of the joint on the Missouri Trapper hope its what your looking for.

Thank you, Kalsu. Nice photos! In another post, Charlie had mentioned that the joint was different then the old Remingtons (also different than the 23 and 73) but I hadn't seen a photo. It's a beautiful knife! That copperhead jig bone is really gorgeous stuff.

Love the color. Pretty like a real copperhead!

As a side note, I've noticed quite a few more copper-head snakes moving northward into Missouri. Guess it's the warming thing going on. We saw one about mid-state near Clinton Missouri this summer.
