I've been a knife guy for many years, so when my wife took a trip to Paris recently, I asked her to see if she could find a knife to bring back for me. This is what she picked up.

It's a Laguiole en Aubrac, I don't know much about them, other than they are from France (obviously) . paperwork says it has an olive wood handle. Does anyone know much about them?

Now I own many knives ( mostly modern folders) this is only one of two slip joint knives I own. But wow is this ever a gorgeous knife, I'm sure my photos don't do it justice.

Cheers!

I gotta get me one of those! Very nice!

They are great looking knives and the olive wood is just gorgeous. Pete is the resident master and hopefully he will chime in soon. Oh Pete!

Very nice choice she made for you!

That is an upscale version too, with the special engraving work.

As Frank said, you owe her!

thanks for the pictures.

best

I have an ebony Laguiole, it's a nice knife. I agree with you, the blade shape is great and it takes a very nice edge.

Nice gift! Will the knife be seeing some pocket time? Hope so. These knives are built to be used.

I think it's safe to say your wife has good taste in knives and picked you out a very nice gift to bring back.

Congratulations. I've got a Laguiole as well and it's a wonderful knife. Only thing it needed was a good sharpening. Enjoy it! :)
