I am honored to say that Great Eastern Cutlery has decided to allow me the opportunity to write a book about the history of the Northfield Knife Company, the Tidioute Cutlery Company (1909-1916) and the Great Eastern Cutlery Company. This new book will feature some great old photo's, and a comprehensive listing of GEC's products and production. GEC has taken the knife world by storm and I am thrilled to be working with Ryan Daniels, Ken Daniels, and Bill Howard to produce this historical reference book for those that love both old and new knives.

So, if you have anything of any materials on the above mentioned items that you think may be of interest, please contact me and we maybe can include them as well. This is VERY exciting and should be a wonderful addition to your knife library. Please pass the word. I can see that my winter will be spent on intensive research. I can't wait to get started.

Check out this link to see a picture of the book cover. I hope to see you at the Open House and get your comments on the new GEC book I have completed for them. For those of you that love knife history, this is for you. For those of you that love GEC knives, this is for you. The transistion from 1858 to today is wonderful journey that I thoroughly enjoy learning about and hope you will too.

Thanks for your support.

David, do you have ISBN numbers and Publisher Info? I order for our local public library's collection. I'd love to add your book.

I do have the numbers, but the book will only be available thru GEC. I suspect that other outlets like KNIFE WORLD and SMKW will be distributing it as well, but GEC will be your best bet at this time. Hope that helps and thank you all VERY much for your support. I really don't make a thing on this project, but I do make lots of friends and meet great knife poeple in the process. More that worth it, in my eyes.

That is awesome. Thank you for writing this book. I have been looking forward to this since I heard news about it. I just picked up "Tidioute - The Town With an Edge" and am looking forward to reading it. I will certainly look forward to July for the GEC book.

Change in plans, I will be at the GEC event on Friday instead of Thursday to sign books for the first release of the "Great Eastern Cutlery: An American Tradition, the History of the Northfield and Tidioute Brands"

This promises to be a huge event so come early. Please introduce yourself to my wife and I, we will have a table with vintage Tidioute and Northfield items for you to look over as well. NOT FOR SALE, but gosh what fun to show them off.

See you there

David L. Anthony

That is great news! Good for you.
that will make for some interesting reading for sure.

Wish I could be there, David!! I hope you will take pictures of your artifacts.
I've already called GEC, but you can't order a book yet.
Not until after this weekend!

David, did you have much luck in tracking down production numbers of special factory orders? That was the one thing lacking in the production numbers posted on their (GEC) website.

I have seen several knives for sale on web-auction sites which I could not verify as authentic, because the combination of pattern # / handle material / jigging pattern was not listed on GEC's production pages.

This book has the only listing for knives made by GEC for other brands available, A few companies refused to allow this info, but the list is comprehensive. You will enjoy that for sure. Thanks for a GREAT question.

David
