I posted about whether to buy a zt0566 or a grip. Most advised to buy the grip. Due to the price difference and the reccomenditions I bought the grip. I would like to say thanks to everyone who posted. I love the axis lock. Been playing with it and it is starting to loosen up really well. The sharpest knife out od the box I've ever received.
I would like to get some g10 scales when I can afford it. I love the way it fills my hand. I was planning for the 0566 to be my next purchase next year as far as higher end knives go but after the little experience I've had with this knife, the freek or mini freek will probably be next. I would like to have one more benchmade if I can ever afford it. I have the grip and a blur in s30v,so I really have enough of the better steels, but what could another 1 or 2 hurt :) .

I love my mini Grip!
I actually bought mine lightly used from a reputable guy and I love it..so comfortable in hand..easy to open/use.
Mine is an older 440C version that I'm having a mirrored edge put on it. Cant wait to get it back from that service.
Love this knife. Enjoy yours my friend!

There are a couple sources for aftermarket scales for the full size and mini grips. I have all minis. I’m just not real wild about the factory plastic handles. I know they’re a tough handle, but they just feel and look kinda cheap to me. But that’s me.

I have the Wilkins grips in Ti as well as G10, and they really transform the knife to the next level in my humble opinion. Well worth it. If you do not want to add the extra weight of the Ti, go with the G10. Very lightweight but still feel great in hand.

I have a full size Griptillian and a Mini Griptillian. Everyone talks about these are being the best value, budget knives from Benchmade's lineup. and I agree. They work great and don't cost much.

What I don't think makes sense, for me, is to buy a not-so-cheap value knife and right aftewards splurge as much money in a set of aftermarket grips (Wilkins for a full size grip run 120€ + shipping, at least in the homepage). The combo you get is not a 240€ knife, again, for me.

Congrats on your new purchase.

Don't worry, give it some time and you will have a ZT, Spyderco, Fox, Lionsteel, Cold Steel, etc.

Rumor has it, whoever dies with the most toys wins! I'm not going to win that contest but I'm not coming in last either :D

Followed you over here from the other post. The Grip was a good choice. For a more substantial feeling knife in a smaller size, you might look at BM's mini-Presidio 2. It's an AXIS lock, aluminium handle, S30V blade. I have the auto version and it's a really nice smaller carry. Very capable without being too bulky, but also pretty substantial feeling because of the aluminium handles.

I just looked at the presidio on blade hq. That may be the next purchase when I have the money. It will be awhile.not able to work because of seizures and waiting on disability. Thanks for the suggestion.

Solid choices all around. I love the Griptilian line and the Presidios are about as tough as you can get. Keep your eye out on the exchange - you can get some really good deals that way.

I atually just did that for first time on a new knife but it wasn't exactly a value purchase. Might be better proposition for OP to sell this grip and just buy the g10 grip. Might be cheaper that way, especially if he likes the grey/blue combination that I personally like.

Very nice and thanks for reporting back in! If you want a higher end knife when the time comes and you really like that axis lock, look up Benchmade Custom Shop. There might be some neat options there for you as well.

They are great knives! If you do ever want another grip or mini grip, you could try the BM custom knife configuration site. You can choose blade shape, steel you want, handle material, etc. I made a large and small grip, one in M4 and one in 20CV, both with G10 scales. They are amazing knives, great EDCs. I do really love 154CM though! I just bought the CLA auto, should be here Thurs., very excited for that blade!

I would very respectfully disagree. I think with the addition of the Wilkins grips on a mini, you have a nice solid, well crafted handle, full steel liners, and a quite decent blade steel. And a “sharp” looking knife as well. And get the deep carry clip for free from BM.

I think it would compete well with other knives in that price bracket. Certainly not worse.

Congrats! May I suggest some Micarta scales from one of our talented forum members? I have two Micarta scales from DeathofAllThings for two of my Grips and prefer them to the G10 scales on my BM custom shop Grip.

On the Freek, I highly suggest handling one in store. I have one, but the bumps in the finger grooves go right into my fingers the way I usually grip the knife. Personally, I like my Boost better (might de-assist my next one), although my tastes don't always agree with the majority. Props to Keyman for some great Micarta scales he made for my 590.

For the record, of the BM folders I own and/or carry, the discontinued 520 is still my favorite.

I am not saying you don't get a nice package. I am saying that if I was to spend $250, there are other models that appeal to me better.

Also, is like getting a car with engine X and then spending money in upgrades just to gain a few HP... when for that amount of extra money you could have bought the next engine (power wise).

But again, to each his own. I like my Grips, but I like them just they way they come from Benchmade. If any, I would try sometime to get a hold of a 20v one with G10 scales... but that's about it.
