Try a search on this forum; Sal mentioned the changes. The main thing is S30V steel instead of the present CPM440V, and, I believe, all will be combo edge. I am not sure, but it seems mention was made of a minor change to the compression lock. The best thing, of course, is that they will be available again. Most dealers and distribitors ran out of Guntings some time ago.
I'm the last to know and of course everything I say is suspect..and I am not Spyderco..BUT:
yes: yes a change in steel, S60v becomes S30v...
no: no change in compression lock...at least not in the Gunting for it needs to take abuse, slam 'n jam and directed force against the lock..Don't fix what ain't broke!
no: no more eccentric pin..(not my choice)....
clip the same..indexing same..liners etc..
I look forward to getting a revised Gunting into my hands to check it out..
Due to the recent press about it in the LE magazines theres been renewed interest in it and the Gunting family..
Hi Pachucks. We've changed the liner material to a much harder material that will add both strength and less wear. We've tighten up the tolerances to eliminate "slop", which the eccentric made up for.
"If" we get one that's worn, we can easily replace the liner. We just started doing this with the Military. Results have been excellent and the pivot area is stronger.
