Hi all, new poster, new customer (15" AK hasn't arrived yet)
couple of thoughts:
1: when it does arrive, will it have that almost chrome look I saw recently in pics a guy who'd just got his first kukhri posted? almost too good to be true- that finish from hand tools.
2: I;m not sure, but I believe Bill has left his body? I'm sorry, it's my loss too. He sounds like a fabulous person, excellent life philosophy. Would have loved to exchange thoughts with. Apologies if this seems insensitive, especially to Yangdu, my sympathy Ma'am.
3: Have been looking at the pics of the flagship Kothimoda, glorious piece of work, is the gentleman who forges them still working? one of those beauties is on my Christmas wish list.
Thanks to all, both for your informative posts and for your patience with a bumbling newcomer poster :)
regards\
Chris

Welcome Chris,

I gave your questions their own thread, so that they may be more easily addressed.
You are in the right forum.

To answer your questions:

1) If your AK is not a villager, then yes, it will most likely come with a polished finish.
2) Yes, Uncle Bill Walked west in 2005. He is dearly missed here.Thank you for the condolences.
3) Sadly No, The Master Bladesmith, Bura, the Royal Kami who usually does the work on the Flagship Kothimoda is no longer able to work at the present time. We are hoping and praying that he will get well. I am sure that one of our new Kami's will be up to the task of making one.

Here is a recently made video of how our kami's do their work. Shot by Howard Wallace and his wife Red Flower on their recent trip to Nepal :http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8816347&postcount=1

Hi people, for some reason my mail program won't allow me to use the "contact" link on the website.
How long should I expect to wait for my new toy to arrive? It's been 2 weeks now and I got the impression that it would only take 5-7 working days to get here.
Thanks
Chris

Email Yangdu directly at HIMIMP@aol.com.
Delivery anywhere in the USA is usually only 3-4 days.

If you post more information we might be able to answer you better. It's a good idea to post what part of the world you're in your profile. Was this a special order or a DOTD?

Welcome chill, christmas mailings are slowing down from the sheer volume, in any event your khuk is on its way, Yangdu is the fastest shipper I know. You will love your new Khuk.:D

The Post Office is pretty slow now. I just got a beautiful new khuk this week that arrived 5 days later than it should have, judging from the Priority Mail postmark. When I picked it up at the Post Office, the guy at the counter was surprised and apologetic that it took so long.

Thanks people, I'll try to be patient.
FWIW, I'm Australian, but living in Canada, just East of Toronto.

Hi chill0519. Express shipping usually takes 10-15 days to Canada, maybe longer this time of year. Relax!

I did, on Saturday, no response so far.

I think you might be dealing with the same thing I did. I ordered a DOTD on August 29th of this year, and it took until the 24th of September to arrive.

The problem here is almost certainly Canadian customs. They flag certain packages and put them aside for a secondary inspection, and it seems these can take up to a month to actually get around to. I imagine it had something to do with the fact it was a "weapon", though I'm really not sure why... It arrived opened up and retaped, but in good condition. When I talked to her, Yangdu confirmed my suspicions that our customs can take a LONG time to go through.

It was worth the wait!

Thanks for the info re: Canada customs, I assume it will arrive eventually, although I still haven't received word that it's even been sent yet.
It's not a special order, nor a DOTD, just a regular one ordered from the website.

Sometimes there is a SNAFU at the Post Office as well.

I ordered one a while back, and after it hadn't arrived in two weeks (unheard of for HI, even over the holidays), I emailed and asked for a tracking number. No dice.

So I went to the PO, and lied and said the tracking number said it had arrived, and made them go look for it.

Sure enough, it had been sitting there -- never checked in or processed -- for a week and a half.

Though, like others said, your Customs is almost certainly the problem.

I don't have a Villager finish on any of my blades, but the high polished ones are literally mirrors. I was amazed, I can't get them that shiny with 2000 grit W&D.

Welcome to HI and forum, Chris

Hi all, it arrived today, everything I imagined, beautiful workmanship. Fits my hand well and nicely balanced a little forward. Not as heavy as it looks.
Thanks to the HI people and forumites,
Chris
