Hi All,

I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. I was a regular on Bladeforums 8 or 9 years ago but have not been around much lately. Andy and I met at Blade Show years ago and formed a fast friendship. This summer at the show Andy asked me to come down and work with him and really get the shop humming. So, about 2 weeks ago I moved down from Boston, MA to the great state of Georgia, and then we immediately took off for the Knifemaker's Guild show in Louisville, KY. After that I jumped into the shop and things are going great.

I am not a knife maker per se, but I've been working in and managing shops for most of my life. I am a furniture maker by trade and you can see some of my work here if you'd like - http://www.kencraggs.com/

I am looking forward to reconnecting with folks on here from years ago. As I understand it Yvsa has passed away. I am sorry to have missed that and will certainly miss hearing from him.

One important note - and I'm just going to cut and paste Andy's own words here - "Even though we are growing, please be sure that every knife that has my initials has been hand ground by me. Also, the handle shapes are mine alone. Honestly, right now I have my hands in every process. But I wanted y’all to know that I’m not marking knives with my name that aren’t made by me." Straight from the man himself.

Thanks!

Welcome back! What are the goals for the future products? Just increased production?

Hey Ken - you make some very nice furniture. Looking forward to seeing how that translates into knife making, I'm sure the possibility are endless. Good luck to you.

Welcome Ken! Your furniture is sweet! Looking forward to see what this means for Fiddleback Forge.

Congrats on the move .. and .. if you still enjoy and have time to ride on two wheels - PM me and I'll point you in the right direction (if you are unfamiliar). Georgia has of some of the best moto-roads in the US.

Congrats! I'd love to spend a day in your shoes or even just tour the shop! Any chance we can see some pics of your guys doing the daily thing? :D

Hi Ken,
I am here in Cumming and I will stop in to shake your hand soon.
Since you are a wood guy, you have to get Andy to take you on a field trip downtown to Carlton's rare woods. It is something you will never forget.
I am looking forward to meeting you. Andy spoke very highly of your skills....

Hey Ken—congrats on your life change and becoming part of the Fiddleback Family. I am sure, based on your furniture site, you will bring a great skill set to Andy's shop. Looking forward to hearing more about it all.

Welcome Ken! You have some mad woodworking skills, looking forward to seeing what you bring to FF.

Thanks all for the furniture compliments. I have to say that I had some very good teachers that helped me along the way. I think the idea that Andy and I have is for me to help lend a trained hand in a lot of the prep work, freeing Andy up to focus on the blades. I was surprised to learn that he's in there, on average, about 10 hours a day. So hopefully I can take some of the burden and let him live a regular life.

I'm hoping to take photos and videos of the shop and the process and post them up on here. I have to say that it is a great shop to work in. Very organized and everything is right where you want it.

Willic, we've talked about display cabinets and they might be an option in the future. As it is now the shop is pretty dedicated to making knives and not well set up for woodworking/furniture. But perhaps not for too long...

Bonafide, I'll certainly hit you up for some good rides. My bike is still back in New England, there wasn't room for it in the move, but I'm hoping to get it down here around xmas time, or at the least in the spring. It certainly seems like some great riding is out there.

Paul, come on by anytime. We're typically out to lunch from 11 -2, and then siesta after that of course, so use your best judgement as to when... :D

We're also hoping to start shipping at least 2x a week so ya'll don't have to wait so long to get your knives. But first things first I have to get up to speed in the shop before we can do those kinds of things, hopefully it won't be too long before we do.

- Ken
